Day 18: ESV Journaling Bible
I’ve never been a fan of writing in my books. I label them in pencil and don’t write notes in the margins. So it’s somewhat odd that I decided to try a journaling Bible, eh?
At first I could hardly bring myself to write in it. What if I’d want the space later for something else? What if someone else read it? What if I messed up and made irreparable marks in it? Finally, I forced myself to just start writing, and I have to tell you, I love it.
In case you haven’t heard of journaling Bibles, it’s a regular Bible with wide lined margins for leaving notes. There is plenty of room for regular note taking, or for doodles and sketches and the mini sermons that come to your mind in the middle of church. Oh wait, is that just me?
If you are the kind of person who likes to process through writing, or who can concentrate better when you are doing something on paper, this is the perfect thing for you.
Amazon has a quite a few available, from this affordable and simple hardcover one, to a variety of floral options like this one, to this gorgeous leather volume I’ll just dream about.
How about you- are you the kind of person who writes in all your book margins, or do you leave the pages pristine?

So I am on a commenting blitz… I LOVE my journaling Bible. It’s a record of a journey that wouldn’t make sense to anyone else except Jesus, but it’s good to remember his faithfulness in the past when I am in a bewildering present.
I approve of the commenting blitz. 😀
I agree. Bible journaling has been a really fun way to get a little creativity in my life.
You’ve almost persuaded me on this. I was thiiiis close to taking the plunge one Black Friday when the ESV journaling Bibles were super cheap. Maybe I should next year. Should I?
Yup. Probably you should. You could get a slightly damaged one like I did for cheaper.
